 Hey Parents!!  Phew what a busy week.   The 8th grade's textbook is alllll about civics. So this week was right up their alley. They held the school election on Tuesday! They presented posters about each candidate to each class then led them to the "polls" aka the art room. Each student, in person and online, voted for their favorite candidate. We kept track of the votes on the gym wall. It was so much fun!  In religion the 8th grade is learning how the Catholic church was designed and what shaped the actual process of Mass. Next week they will start the initial steps of designing and building their own church based on what we are learning in religion. I think they will turn out great. Stay tuned for pictures! The 7th grade is currently making board games for the Pilgrims journey to the Americas. They will play those next week.They have been focusing on the colonization and discovery of America the last couple of weeks. In religion they are focusing on the Beat...

 The 8th grade participated in the Iowa Youth Polls today! They researched their candidates' platforms over the last several weeks. Next week on Election Day, they will host a school wide election for the students.

 Here is what we are doing in Miss Steinkamp's Classroom:  The 7th grade made prayer flags awhile back. I forgot to post a picture...oops. But here they are with their prayer flays. The idea is if that cloth unravels the prayer on the flag floats to God.   The middle school helping clean up the window for Homecoming!  The 6th grade listening to Father for Father Friday.   The 7th grade is a little tired of taking notes in their notebook, so I made stations for them. Each station has a new task to complete. They are learning about Spain conquering the New World.   Braylee watching a video and answering questions.  Kurtis researched the 4 social classes of New Spain. He then wrote them into a pyramid and glued them into his notebook.  I haven't forgotten about 8th grade! They are working hard on their Anti-Federalist vs Federalist debate.   Remember tomorrow the 2nd of October is an early out due to Homecoming! Lunch will NOT be served tomorrow!  This just in: No Mass the 7th of October. Kids do NOT need to dress. Father will not be here.  October 9-Spirit Day  October 16- Spirit Day  October 23-No School  The 8th grade Halloween costume is frat boys.  Here is what's happening in the classroom:  8th:  In social studies they are learning about the steps our country took into becoming independent from England. We just went over taxation, so they made protest signs protesting the taxes enforced onto the colonists. They are supposed to look like an angry mob... this is all I got. :)  Religion- October is the month of the rosary. So we are going to learn about the history of the rosary, how to meditate on the mysteries of the rosary while reciting the prayers of the rosary.  The 7th grade:  The 7th grade just wrapped up presentations over Native American groups.  The 8th grade finished creating their monstrances, and they look great! A monstrance is a vessel where the consecrated host is on display through the lunula. Below is a picture of some of the monstrances created by the 8th grade. They are learning about how the Holy Spirit can be one with us. The Eucharist is one of the ways.  The 6th grade enjoyed the weather by playing dominoes with their geography vocabulary. They are focusing on longitude and latitude and how the tilting of the earth effects days, nights, and seasons.

  The 7th grade has so much fun learning about mesoamerica!
