Hi all! Tomorrow there will be a noisy can collection at Mass. Reminder that Friday we will get out two hours early due to Homecoming. This day is also a Spirit Day. So kids can bring $1 to wear sweat pants, and we encourage the students to wear their black and red to support the Panthers. Monday the 2nd we will have an inspirational speaker talk with the middle school about bullying provided by the PTO. NEXT Wednesday there will be a prayer service, no regular Mass. October 13th we DO NOT have school nor on the 16th due to Professional Development. 6th grade took their first unit test yesterday over the elements of the story. The first 5-6 weeks of school are a learning process. They did well on their first test though! We will be heading into unit 2 by focusing on the first and third person point of view. Hi all! Reminder that Monday we do not have school due to professional development. Next Thursday is a PTO meeting at 6. I encourage all of you to attend. They are doing a lot of neat things! Sunday the 24th is our Color Run! Monday the 25th will be our class trip to Panora. I will send out permission slips next week. 8th grade is currently working on a compare/contrast poem about Paul Revere's ride. They are also working on characterization within stories. They watched a video and are starting to read about Harriet Tubman while noting her characterization. Last week they were working on short suspense stories. Below is a picture of two of their story covers. I am so excited to read them this weekend! 7th grade read an account of the sinking of the Titanic . Their assignment was to write a newspaper article reporting on the sinking or the maiden voyage of the ship. They are to make it look like a real newspaper. Of course no Titanic lesson would be complete without the
9/11/17 A few dates to keep in mind: September 18th we do not have school. September 24th is the Color Run. Please be sure to tell your friends! September 25th will be the 8th grade's leadership retreat in Panora. Permission slips will be sent home in the next week or two. September 29th we get out early due to the Homecoming parade. They are currently in the process of writing a short creative story. We will move on to a few nonfiction stories before we really get started in the textbook. The 7th grade just finished a short story by Ray Bradbury called "The Sound of Thunder". They are focusing on cause and effect, foreshadowing, and suspense.
