Hi all!

Reminder that Monday we do not have school due to professional development.
Next Thursday is a PTO meeting at 6. I encourage all of you to attend. They are doing a lot of neat things!
Sunday the 24th is our Color Run!
Monday the 25th will be our class trip to Panora. I will send out permission slips next week.

8th grade is currently working on a compare/contrast poem about Paul Revere's ride. They are also working on characterization within stories. They watched a video and are starting to read about Harriet Tubman while noting her characterization.
Last week they were working on short suspense stories. Below is a picture of two of their story covers. I am so excited to read them this weekend!

7th grade read an account of the sinking of the Titanic. Their assignment was to write a newspaper article reporting on the sinking or the maiden voyage of the ship. They are to make it look like a real newspaper. Of course no Titanic lesson would be complete without the playing of the Titanic soundtrack...

6th grade read The Walrus and the Carpenter today. They are learning about the components in a narrative poem. Their assignment was to start writing a narrative poem with a partner. They are focusing on their character overcoming a conflict. They are finding it a bit challenging since I am making them rhyme. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Have a great weekend!

The 7th grade working on their newspaper articles. Well some are working and others are dabbing.

Two of the awesome covers for the short suspense stories.
