Reminder that tomorrow the public school does not have school and there won't be buses or band, but St. Malachy DOES have school. Thursday morning is DONUTS with DAD!! It is from 7:30 to 8:00 in the gym. Kids will have a donut with dad before the school day. Also, Friday is an optional sack lunch day. If students don't choose to bring their own lunch, chicken nuggets will be for lunch that day. The 8th grade got a small introduction of how "Animal Farm" is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. As we continue to read, they will fill out an allegory chart comparing the "battles" of the animals with the battles within the Russian Revolution as well as the characters versus the person they represent. We just wrapped up chapter 2 today. The 7th grade is well into their book, "The Westing Game". This murder-mystery book has them thinking of the killer! Hi All!!  A few things:  First, the Auction is March 4th. PLEASE come. The 8th graders are sewing a quilt themselves for the silent auction item. Our basket item is "home for the holidays". We are still accepting donations. Thanks to those who have already donated!  MARK your CALENDERS! February 25th is TRIVIA NIGHT at The Lobby. $20 per person and 8 people per team. Invite friends and family to your team; they don't have to be affiliated with St. Malachy. Trivia is SO much fun! I can understand if you are too scared of my team and don't want to sign up. 😉😉 Next Wednesday the 15th the public school does NOT have school but we DO have school. There won't be buses or band lessons, so please plan accordingly.  In the classroom:  The 6th grade just gave their how-to speeches. They all did fabulous. The kids love these because they got food!  The 8th grade just wrapped up with The Lord of the Flies. Below they pose with th

PJ Day! We decided to have lunch together as a "family". The swimmers!! So good!! The 8th grade finished Lord of the Flies Wednesday. They are building 3D projects to represent the setting of the novel. After creating the setting they will have to write a rationale paper telling me how and why they created their setting they way they did. In this rationale they have to include evidence from their book to support their setting. On Monday they will review for the exam over the novel. Thursday they will start watching the movie. Then we are off onto the next novel, Animal Farm.
