Reminder that tomorrow the public school does not have school and there won't be buses or band, but St. Malachy DOES have school.

Thursday morning is DONUTS with DAD!! It is from 7:30 to 8:00 in the gym. Kids will have a donut with dad before the school day.

Also, Friday is an optional sack lunch day. If students don't choose to bring their own lunch, chicken nuggets will be for lunch that day.

The 8th grade got a small introduction of how "Animal Farm" is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. As we continue to read, they will fill out an allegory chart comparing the "battles" of the animals with the battles within the Russian Revolution as well as the characters versus the person they represent. We just wrapped up chapter 2 today.

The 7th grade is well into their book, "The Westing Game". This murder-mystery book has them thinking of the killer! We created a suspect call to keep track of clues, shown below. They were also given clues to try to figure out who could have killed Mr. Westing. They seem to enjoy the book so far!

The portraits are the "suspects". Don't mind my parts of a speech superhero posters. As we read we will add clues to their suspect picture. This will make it easier for the kids to figure out who the killer is.

The 6th grade started "The Giver" last week. The kids think it is a little weird but interesting. They will find out what Jonas's "assignment" is tomorrow which will really kick off the book. The kids took a quiz today to find out what their "assignment"(job) would be if they were in Jonas's community. I saw some of their assignments were childcare attendants, nurturer, landscape maintenance, and a pilot. Tomorrow we will reenact the ceremony that Jonas will have to find out his assignment, only I will use their assignments to present to them for the ceremony. It should be fun!
