We are working on the silent item, which I think is going to turn out so cool!! Catholic Schools Week is NEXT WEEK! Be sure to look for our 8th grade insert in the newspaper coming out on Monday the 2nd. Also, 6th grade parents be sure to be tuned into KSIB throughout the week to listen to the 6th grade ads!! Haiku and Misc...

One of the students' favorite poem to write is the haiku. I am sure it's because haikus are only three lines, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. ;) Here are pictures of the kids working on their haiku projects. The 6th grade made 3D haiku tunnels, the 7th grade painted "traditional" Japanese scrolls, and the 8th grade made carp wind-streamers. Haiku Tunnels! Cute, huh?! "Rabbit" is the title and the three lines of the haiku follow behind it. Carp wind-streamers. I am planning on hanging them up when they are all finished so stay tuned for that picture.  The 6th grade at the radio station! Have your radios tuned into KSIB during Catholic Schools Week to hear their ads for St. Malachy. They all did an awesome job! The kids thought it was pretty neat to record their voices.  P.S We are still collecting donations for our auction basket, 8th grade parents!

Auction

8th Grade Parents: It's that time of the year again for the Auction...hooray! So, I am asking you kindly for donations for the 8th grade basket. We had the idea of a "date night" basket. So, this could include movie tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, candles, movies, tickets to a show/concert, ext... anything that you might think would make for a good date night in Creston or anywhere! We will also accept monetary donations. Sally Woods has volunteered to put the basket together for us. Thanks Sally! You can give your donations to me, and I will pass them onto her. If you have any questions please let me know! We are also throwing around a lot of cute ideas for our silent auction item; I am so excited to see the finished product! See on the 5th of March! Thanks so much!! P.S. The 8th grade shirts are done. They are $15, once that is paid the kids can take them home.

Auction

8th Grade Parents:  Anyone willing to take charge of the 8th grade auction basket? The kids had some ideas, but I think we are up for whatever.  I am working on the silent auction item. :) Please e-mail me if you would like to help out with the basket. Thanks! P.S. The 8th grade's billboard is up by Farm and Home. Check it out because it is SO awesome!!

The 6th grade did a poem graffiti wall today. They had to write three poems in 30 minutes that rhymed, had refrain, and used sensory language. Here they are! There are a bunch of silly poems, but I overheard "This is fun! I hope we do it again." Happy, happy teacher! Heads up 6th grade parents: I will be sending home a permission slip next week to be able to have the students ride a trolley to the radio station to record an ad for Catholic Schools Week. We will be going January 19th at 1:00. You can hear these ads throughout the week of Catholic Schools Week, which is the first week in February. The 7th grade read "The Charge of the Light Brig
