Hey Parents!!

Phew what a busy week.

The 8th grade's textbook is alllll about civics. So this week was right up their alley. They held the school election on Tuesday! They presented posters about each candidate to each class then led them to the "polls" aka the art room. Each student, in person and online, voted for their favorite candidate. We kept track of the votes on the gym wall. It was so much fun!

In religion the 8th grade is learning how the Catholic church was designed and what shaped the actual process of Mass. Next week they will start the initial steps of designing and building their own church based on what we are learning in religion. I think they will turn out great. Stay tuned for pictures!

The 7th grade is currently making board games for the Pilgrims journey to the Americas. They will play those next week. They have been focusing on the colonization and discovery of America the last couple of weeks. In religion they are focusing on the Beatitudes and their true meanings.

The 6th grade just learned about the Paschal Mystery and why it's so important to our faith. They are creating a poster with symbols for each day and including a Bible verse to accompany the symbol. In social studies they just wrapped up their culture unit. They are just getting started on their country research project. This will be a pretty hefty project. I have asked them to bring a tri-fold poster board in to work with. (If this is not feasible, let me know and I will get one!) The idea is that they will research a country's culture, make a poster board of their research, and present it to the class. BUT, that's not enough. ;) The other students will get "passports" and as the presenter is speaking, the students will take notes in their passports of what they learned. They will even make stamps for their passports to get stamped. I am pretty excited for this project. Pictures/Videos to come!!

Also, on Monday it will be the Middle School STEM Day! Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Hensel, and myself have created a hands-on STEM project in honor of the day. I will take pictures and post them. :)
