Happy New Year Parents!

It always seems like time flies from now until summer break. But let's not think about that right now...

Dates to remember:
There is a PTO meeting Thursday night at 6 pm.
January the 12th the 6th grade heads to the radio station to record ads for Catholic Schools Week.
No School January 15th
January 17th 8th grade Mass
January 19th Spirit Day
January 28th-February 3rd is Catholic Schools Week

****Be on the look out for the Catholic Schools Week newspaper insert in the Creston paper. The 8th grade is writing the insert. It will be packed full of some exciting information.****

The 6th grade started off their new year with a bang with an essay. I think they did well with the process. They are going to continue with the poetry unit then head into the myth and legends unit.

The 7th grade just wrote a compare and contrast essay to wrap up their poetry unit. They start their myths and legends unit tomorrow. They will start this unit off with a Greek and Roman god/goddess project.

The 8th grade is almost done with their poetry unit. Once they are done, they will start their first out of three novels. They will start their novel unit with "Animal Farm".

I am a little late with pictures but here are a few from Christmas...
The 7th grade's Christmas week consisted of them paraphrasing "A Christmas Carol". Once they did that, they had to write it into a different dialect then act it out with costumes.

George and Reese's group went with a pirate dialect.

This group went with a modern day dialect where they talked slang and in text.

This group did a Southern dialect.

The 8th grade masa was a hit! We had plenty of food and great conversations. Thank you for allowing your kids to participate!

Ugly sweaters.

Advent angels eating together.

Christmas carols. My favorite!
