Hi all!

What a crazy week with assessments! Next week will be even crazier. I fell slightly behind on updates, sorry!

Here's what:

8th grade: They just wrapped up their exam and movie for "Animal Farm". All of their grades are in PowerSchool if you want to check them out! They are now making a popup allegory book. "Animal Farm" is an allegory for the Russian Revolution, so I am having them make an allegory of "Animal Farm". This project is very creative and hands on! I can't wait to see the finished product. I will post pictures when it's done!

7th grade: They just wrapped up "The Westing Game". They didn't have a test but did watch the movie. I need to add up points on their packets, and they will be all caught up as well.
They have moved onto a mini research project that gives background information on our next book "Night". This book is a biography of Elie Wiesel in the Holocaust. I think the kids will find it very interesting.

6th grade: Today they finished "The Giver". I think they all enjoyed reading it. Next week they will take the test and hopefully watch the movie. I am not sure where I can get that at, but I will try to find it! When they get back from break they will be reading "The Outsiders".

The 8th grade students watching the live discussion feed with Bishop Pates. Awesome job to Rylie, Molly, and Garon for representing our class!

The 6th grade did stations with groups. Each station represented something from "The Giver". In the above picture these three are trying to "see beyond" like Jonas can in the book. They have to look very closely to see the hidden object in the picture.

These three are going through the Ceremony that each child goes through in the book. Here they are named, given a bike, and their adult clothing.

This station is a Youtube video of life in the 1950s, it was in black and white. Our characters in the book can't see color. After watching this they had to discuss what it would be like not to see color and to live in a time period similar to the 50s.

Study hall kids goofing around.

THANK YOU THANK YOU to all who donated to our basket. It was a BIG success!! Big should out to Chris Walter for putting so much work into it!

The 6th grade is playing Bananagrams with vocabulary words.

8th grade's mass is Wednesday the 15th. Please come if you are able to! It is also a noisy can collection, any donations are much appreciated.

REMINDER NEXT WEEK IS CONFERENCES. Please sign up if you haven't already. School gets out at 11:50 next Thursday. No School on Friday the 17th.

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE SPRING BREAK!!!
