Here is what is happening...

6th Grade just got done with their writing process of their personal narratives. I am excited to read these. This class has grown tremendously in their writing skills! One more paper to go before the end of the year!
They will be out of their textbooks for the rest of they year. On Monday they will start reading The Outsiders and will have a reading packet with different activities and comprehension that they will go along with the book. After we finish that it will be time for their research paper! That is a slow process so the information can really sink in.

7th Grade is on their way in Shoeless Joe. I think it is a little slow right now but it will pick up in the next section we read. They also have a reading packet that goes a long with the novel. I am creating this packet so they are getting it piece by piece.

8th Grade is almost done with Lord of the Flies! We should wrap up on Monday or Tuesday and be ready to watch the movie. I have never read this book, but I am in love with it! I hope the kids are liking it too. Next Friday I plan on starting To Kill a Mockingbird. I AM SO EXCITED. This is my favorite book so the activities will be flying!

All these classes have had an "essay" due today for Dollars for Scholars. I will let you know the winners of the contest as soon as I know.

 Hello!   Dates to remember:  March 24th: Spirit Day March 30th: 8th Grade Parents:: Freshman Orientation April 7th: No School: PD/Good Friday  8th grade: They have finished up their unit on the Civil War and the reconstruction era. They are moving through the Progressive Era. We are going to do brief units on the Roaring 20s, WWI, WWII, and The Civil Rights Movement. In religion we have been reviewing topics. They will have a standardized religion test on Monday that the Diocese proctors.  7th grade: They are currently working on creating the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, or the Mormon Trail. We are reading about the Westward Expansion and that cause and effect of those migrating west. On Tuesday they will learn about the Gold Rush. In religion, they are learning about Epistles and the letters St. Paul wrote to those who were turning their back on God. They even wrote their own Epistles which are pretty good! 6th grade: They have their Ancient Rome test today and then will move on to

 Hi parents! Important Dates: Dec. 17: Spirit Day Dec. 21: Ugly Sweater Day Dec. 22: Kids needs to bring a sack lunch! Mass with the Bishop. Kids are encouraged to wear Christmas colors if possible. Christmas caroling starts at 12:30.  Dec. 23- NO SCHOOL CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! **The 6th grade and 8th grade are participating in secret Santa within their classroom. This gift should not be expensive. Just a little something. Also, many students give their advent angels a little gift. This is not mandatory. If your child would like to give a little something, that is fine! It doesn't have to be super expensive.  Here is what is happening:  8th grade: The 8th grade wrapped up their unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. They are moving through the Progressive Movement. We will be spending a day or two on the Women's Suffrage Movement before moving on to World War I.  In religion they complete a "pilgrimage" of the stations of the cross.
