The Outsiders

The 6th grade is slowly finishing up The Outsiders. They are LOVING this book.
Next week we will finish then watch the movie.

I had the kids pick out their favorite event in the book. They then read through the page and studied the words. After thinking about the words they were to write a poem by circling words that stood out to them. However, the poems had to relate or symbolize the story. They then drew pictures around the words/poems that go along with the meaning of the poem.
The circled words make up the words of the poem!

They also made story cubes. On each side of the cub is a literary term. So, for protagonist they had to draw the character that is the protagonist in the story. They turned out pretty cool!
