Reminder to the 8th grade parents to sign up for conferences! I sent out an email last week. 

Here's a look at what we are doing in class: 
 Kennedy is using a 3D pen to make an object for her art project

 The 6th grade is working on their 3D poster of the Nile River

8th grade:  
The 8th grade is going over the constitution. We are breaking it down by each branch. This week they are focusing on the legislative branch. They are currently in a simulation where the class was divided into the senate and hour of representatives. They are in committees where they are creating bills to become laws.
In religion they are working on an essay about the 4 Marks of the Church. On Friday they will be learning about Pentecost. 

7th grade: 
The 7th grade is learning about the different events that lead to the Revolutionary War. They are currently working on a murder mystery for the Boston Massacre. Tomorrow they will be learning about the Boston Tea Party.
In religion they are working on different forms of prayer which is perfect, for the month of October is the month of the rosary.

6th grade: 
The 6th grade is just starting ancient Egypt. I love this unit! We have so much fun doing hands on activities. We are going to mummify a chicken this week. The kids always love doing this. 
In religion they are learning about the different covenants within the Bible. They are about to wrap up this unit.

 Hi parents! Important Dates: Dec. 17: Spirit Day Dec. 21: Ugly Sweater Day Dec. 22: Kids needs to bring a sack lunch! Mass with the Bishop. Kids are encouraged to wear Christmas colors if possible. Just a little something. Also, many students give their advent angels a little gift. This is not mandatory. If your child would like to give a little something, that is fine! It doesn't have to be super expensive.  Here is what is happening:  8th grade: The 8th grade wrapped up their unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. They are moving through the Progressive Movement. We will be spending a day or two on the Women's Suffrage Movement before moving on to World War I.  In religion they complete a "pilgrimage" of the stations of the cross. They read about medieval practice

 Hello!   Dates to remember:  March 24th: Spirit Day March 30th: 8th Grade Parents:: Freshman Orientation April 7th: No School: PD/Good Friday  8th grade: They have finished up their unit on the Civil War and the reconstruction era. They are moving through the Progressive Era. We are going to do brief units on the Roaring 20s, WWI, WWII, and The Civil Rights Movement. In religion we have been reviewing topics. They will have a standardized religion test on Monday that the Diocese proctors.  7th grade: They are currently working on creating the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, or the Mormon Trail. We are reading about the Westward Expansion and that cause and effect of those migrating west. On Tuesday they will learn about the Gold Rush. In religion, they are learning about Epistles and the letters St. Paul wrote to those who were turning their back on God. They even wrote their own Epistles which are pretty good! 6th grade: They have their Ancient Rome test today and then will move on to
