Hi parents!

Important Dates:

Dec. 17: Spirit Day

Dec. 21: Ugly Sweater Day

Dec. 22: Kids needs to bring a sack lunch! Mass with the Bishop. Kids are encouraged to wear Christmas colors if possible. Christmas caroling starts at 12:30.

Dec. 23- NO SCHOOL CHRISTMAS BREAK!!!

**The 6th grade and 8th grade are participating in secret Santa within their classroom. This gift should not be expensive. Just a little something. Also, many students give their advent angels a little gift. This is not mandatory. If your child would like to give a little something, that is fine! It doesn't have to be super expensive.

Here is what is happening:

8th grade: The 8th grade wrapped up their unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. They are moving through the Progressive Movement. We will be spending a day or two on the Women's Suffrage Movement before moving on to World War I.

In religion they complete a "pilgrimage" of the stations of the cross. They read about medieval practices of devotions which included the stations of the cross, rosaries, and relics. Earlier this week they did a scavenger hunt focusing on the different relics found around the world.

The 7th grade is on the cusp of the Revolutionary War. This week they are focusing on the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party.  They learned the British taxed the colonist unfairly which resulted in these two events that would create even more tension thus starting the Revolutionary War.

In religion they made social injustice posters. For the last week they have read and researched different social injustices found not only in our country about around the world.

The 7th grade with their protest signs against the British. They are obviously very upset about the taxation.

The 6th grade is finally presenting their culture projects! It has been quite the project, but the kids learned a lot not only about their country but presenting skills and formatting posters. While students  presented their countries, the other kids took notes in their "passports". :)

Most the year they have been learning about the Book of Exodus. We are ready to move on; however, they are creating a game to follow the Israelites on their journey from Egypt to the Promise land. This will be a good summary as to what they have learned so far this year.

Merry Christmas!! I hope you all have a blessed holiday season.
