Hi parents! 
 I think we are finally getting a routine down and some normalcy! 

Dates to remember: 
September 9- 6th grade Mass. This will be streaming live!
September 11- SPIRIT DAY. We are still doing our annual Cy-Hawk Spirit Day. Students wear their favorite team's colors. Go Hawks. ;) ;) Kids can wear sweats for $1
September 23- 8th Grade Mass- It will be live streamed.
September 25- No SCHOOL Professional Development Day 

**Keep in mind- Students will need a winter coat for PE. This colder weather reminded me to remind you! 


7th Grade: The 7th grade has been studying Mesoamerica civilizations. There are doing STEAM challenges based around these civilizations. Below you can see students making Mayan masks, Aztec floating gardens, and Mayan decipher calendars. In religion they will be studying the sacrament of baptism tomorrow. 


 Kurtis is in the background constructing his garden while Braylee attempts to cut out eye holes in her mask. 

 Jaxson is deep in thought about his floating garden. 

 Kadley is trying to figure out how to make a beak on her mask.

 Owen is being very secretive about his new alphabet. 

6th grade: These students are in the middle of learning different maps and all of the parts that go a long with maps. Last week they studied the 5 themes of geography. In religion they just learned about Abraham and Sarah. They will continue to learn more tomorrow about Abraham with his sacrifice of his son Isaac.

8th grade: They are in the middle of learning the rights and duties of an American citizen and what it takes to become an American citizen. They took a sample test of a citizen test... many did not make the cut. ;)  In religion they are presenting their apostles presentations tomorrow before moving on.

 Hello!   Dates to remember:  March 24th: Spirit Day March 30th: 8th Grade Parents:: Freshman Orientation April 7th: No School: PD/Good Friday  8th grade: They have finished up their unit on the Civil War and the reconstruction era. They are moving through the Progressive Era. We are going to do brief units on the Roaring 20s, WWI, WWII, and The Civil Rights Movement. In religion we have been reviewing topics. They will have a standardized religion test on Monday that the Diocese proctors.  7th grade: They are currently working on creating the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, or the Mormon Trail. We are reading about the Westward Expansion and that cause and effect of those migrating west. On Tuesday they will learn about the Gold Rush. In religion, they are learning about Epistles and the letters St. Paul wrote to those who were turning their back on God. They even wrote their own Epistles which are pretty good! 6th grade: They have their Ancient Rome test today and then will move on to

 Hi parents! Important Dates: Dec. 17: Spirit Day Dec. 21: Ugly Sweater Day Dec. 22: Kids needs to bring a sack lunch! Mass with the Bishop. Kids are encouraged to wear Christmas colors if possible. Christmas caroling starts at 12:30.  Dec. 23- NO SCHOOL CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! **The 6th grade and 8th grade are participating in secret Santa within their classroom. This gift should not be expensive. Just a little something. Also, many students give their advent angels a little gift. This is not mandatory. If your child would like to give a little something, that is fine! It doesn't have to be super expensive.  Here is what is happening:  8th grade: The 8th grade wrapped up their unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. They are moving through the Progressive Movement. We will be spending a day or two on the Women's Suffrage Movement before moving on to World War I.  In religion they complete a "pilgrimage" of the stations of the cross.
