Image result for Auction  Parents, your child will get a flyer today to take home to you for the annual auction. This year the auction is February 29th. Our basket themes are "VSCO Girl" ( I know, I know but it's trending right now...) and "Seven Deadly Sins". The flyer has ideas for items and deadline dates. Any contribution will help!!

Catholic Schools Week is approaching fast! Don't miss the newspaper insert the 8th graders write. It will be published January 24th. You can find it inserted into the Creston newspaper.

The days for Catholic Schools Week is as follows:
Sunday the 26th: Catholic Schools Week Mass
Monday: School Spirit--needs a sack lunch
Tuesday: PJ Day-- talent show day! The whole class will be performing!! More info. to come!
Wednesday-- Era day-- dress in any decade
Thursday-- Sports wear--going to the YMCA all day-- needs a sack lunch
Friday--Mass best--grandparents Mass at Holy Spirit

Parents,  The deadline for donations for the auction is this Friday! Anything is appreciated. Friday is a Spirit Day Students can bring Valentine's Day treats on the 14th if they would like. The 18th of February the 8th grade is going to Career Day at Swcc. More information to come. I will send out a permission slip sometime this week. The 19th of February we do not have school due to professional development. Classroom updates: 8th grade is just getting into their third novel, "The Hunger Games".  With this novel we are focusing on characterization. The 7th grade is reading "Night" by Elie Wiesel. They are focusing on several different aspects such as character development, analyzing dialogue, vocabulary, and much more. **Both the 7th and 8th grade are reading their novels off their Chromebooks.  Hello!   Dates to remember:  March 24th: Spirit Day March 30th: 8th Grade Parents:: Freshman Orientation April 7th: No School: PD/Good Friday  8th grade: They have finished up their unit on the Civil War and the reconstruction era. They are moving through the Progressive Era. We are going to do brief units on the Roaring 20s, WWI, WWII, and The Civil Rights Movement. In religion we have been reviewing topics. They will have a standardized religion test on Monday that the Diocese proctors.  7th grade: They are currently working on creating the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, or the Mormon Trail. We are reading about the Westward Expansion and that cause and effect of those migrating west. On Tuesday they will learn about the Gold Rush. In religion, they are learning about Epistles and the letters St. Paul wrote to those who were turning their back on God.
