The 8th grade is well into their novel Lord of the Flies. We should wrap up next week. They then will take a test, watch the movie, and create a 3D model of the setting. (I will post pictures when they are all done.) I have been telling them to bring things from home for their models. They do not have to buy things. I am there are plenty of things from home they can use, and then we will return them when we are done.

The 7th grade just started their unit on theme. This unit is a little tricky usually. They are my guinea pigs by experimenting with a new digital notebook all done on Google slides. I am hoping to get good feedback from it!

The 6th grade is also into their theme unit. They will read a short story by Avi called Scout's Honor. The next several days they will be doing various station activities surrounding the story. These activities will include discussion, problem solving, creativity, comprehension, and of course theme. If I remember, I will post pictures of their posters and activities. Fingers crossed I remember!

 Hello!   Dates to remember:  March 24th: Spirit Day March 30th: 8th Grade Parents:: Freshman Orientation April 7th: No School: PD/Good Friday  8th grade: They have finished up their unit on the Civil War and the reconstruction era. They are moving through the Progressive Era. We are going to do brief units on the Roaring 20s, WWI, WWII, and The Civil Rights Movement. In religion we have been reviewing topics. They will have a standardized religion test on Monday that the Diocese proctors.  7th grade: They are currently working on creating the Oregon Trail, Santa Fe Trail, or the Mormon Trail. We are reading about the Westward Expansion and that cause and effect of those migrating west. On Tuesday they will learn about the Gold Rush. In religion, they are learning about Epistles and the letters St. Paul wrote to those who were turning their back on God.  Hi parents! Important Dates: Dec. 17: Spirit Day Dec. 21: Ugly Sweater Day Dec. 22: Kids needs to bring a sack lunch! Mass with the Bishop. Kids are encouraged to wear Christmas colors if possible. Christmas caroling starts at 12:30.  Dec. 23- NO SCHOOL CHRISTMAS BREAK!!! **The 6th grade and 8th grade are participating in secret Santa within their classroom. This gift should not be expensive. Just a little something. Also, many students give their advent angels a little gift. This is not mandatory. If your child would like to give a little something, that is fine! It doesn't have to be super expensive.  Here is what is happening:  8th grade: The 8th grade wrapped up their unit on the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. They are moving through the Progressive Movement. We will be spending a day or two on the Women's Suffrage Movement before moving on to World War I.  In religion they complete a "pilgrimage" of the stations of the cross.
